  1. Many years ago, there was a “Sylvia” strip, where an anchorwoman is on the street, showing people pictures of a dog in costume.

A man looks at them and says, “If the animal in this picture is female, it’s very cute. If it’s a male, the owners should probably be arrested.”

I don’t care what its gender is.

The owners should probably be arrested.

  2. She/he looks stoic and dignified, in spite of the costuming.

  3. They mostly all do, which is what makes this site so terribly heartwrenching.

  4. Oh, I don’t find it heartwrenching at all! I think it’s hilarious!

Honestly, I imagine these dogs all have great, pampered lives. Dressing them up for photos isn’t hurting them! They are not being abused–and while they might look embarrassed, that is mainly our projection onto them.

Lighten up! “Heartwrenching” would be dogs without homes, without food . . . not with owners who like to dress them up in silly clothes. Sheesh!
